The Arena - 1-on-1 Challenges - FAQ




The Arena now gives you an opportunity to challenge any online player to a 1-on-1 Duel. Read below to find out more:

Q: How do I challenge someone on the Arena?
A:
  In order to challenge a player, they need to be online. 

Online players can be identified by a Green icon against their name in the Leaderboard. You can now challenge any online player in the Arena to a 1-on-1 Duel. 

Mouse over a player’s name to view the Challenge options:


 

Once you find an online player, you can send a Challenge invite to them by clicking on the appropriate Challenge button with respective Stamina Cover charges.

Q: How many players can I challenge in a day? 
A: You will get 5 Free Challenges every 24 hours. The Free Challenges reset every day at midnight Pacific Time. If you wish to Challenge more players beyond the free limit, you can unlock Challenges by using Reward Points:



Q: Can I only challenge the players who are currently playing in the Arena? 
A: 
No, you can challenge any player who is online in Mafia Wars, regardless of their current actions in the game.

However, you will be unable to challenge any player who is already in a Holding Cell or fighting in the Arena.
You will receive a notification message in such cases.

Q: What happens after I click on “Challenge” button? How will my opponent know about the Challenge?
A: 
As soon as you Challenge someone, you will be placed in a Holding Cell and an invite for the Duel will be sent to your opponent.
The 1-on-1 Duel will begin after your opponent accepts the invite.



Your opponent will see the Challenge invite through an in-game pop-up notification:



If your opponent accepts the Challenge within the required time, they will be placed in the same Holding Cell as you and the 1-on-1 Duel will begin.





In case your Challenge is declined or not responded to, you will be notified:





Q: How do I manage or disable the pop-up notifications?
A:  
You may also receive similar Challenge notifications from opponents while playing the game.
Click on the Arena Notifications icon on the Top Bar to access and manage all notifications related to the Arena:



Alternatively, you can edit the notifications settings by clicking on “View all” link on any notification:
